Success, Nothing Less

Havelock Parliament

Havelock children are voted democratically each year to be part of Havelock Parliament – each of our roles allows the elected pupil to be responsible and speak on behalf of their year group in the following areas:

  • Member of Parliament
  • Playground Ministers
  • Reading Ministers
  • Rights Ministers
  • Environment Ministers
  • Travel Ministers

Children are elected in the beginning of Autumn Term. Each class elects one child per role. The role of each child is to meet leaders across the school on a regular basis in order to discuss and consider whole school priorities around their area they then report back to their classes so that everyone can put forward their views.

Most recently, members had a key role to play in the design and development of our new junior playground. They consulted their classes, ran a poster competition and met the project designers with the headteacher to agree the final layout.

Members also show around important visitors, meet governors, support the head and deputy with whole school assemblies, report back to their class on the annual pupil questionnaire.
